HHS is now taking applications for the Middle College Program

The goal of the Hattiesburg High School Middle College (HHSMC) admissions process is to select and admit a

diverse group of academically capable students who have a genuine interest in pursuing this unique and

rigorous program focused on earning a high school diploma along with an associate’s degree. Each application

and accompanying documentation will be reviewed by the admissions team. Elements to be included in this

application are as follows:

 
  • Academic Potential: GPA, Grades and ACT scores
  • References: Two from current teachers who have the ability to evaluate the student’s potential for

success

  • Application: Well-written, thoughtful responses provided by the student and parents/guardians
  • Interview: Admissions team will interview applicants
  • Characteristics: Intellectual curiosity, self-motivation, maturity, self-discipline, and the desire for the nontraditional high school setting

All applications will be evaluated. Applicants will be informed by phone of the interview schedule. HHSMC

class members will be selected and notified by mail after interviews. If your mailing address is incorrect you

will not receive important selection information and risk missing enrollment deadlines. Applications delivered

after April 9, 2021, will not be considered.

 

Please remember that all HHSMC students must meet the following criteria:

  • Complete 14 high school credits by the end of 10th grade
  • Maintain a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA
  • Achieve qualifying ACT sub-scores (17 in English and 19 in Math) 21 composite is preferred
  • Pass all end of course exams required for graduation (English II, Algebra I, Biology, U.S. History*)

*U.S. History is an 11-grade class: Middle College students will take this class

and the subject-area test during the junior year.
